Children with hearing loss can experience isolation and feel unhappy in school. They may deal with frequent misunderstandings when talking with other children or feel left out of conversations entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hearing Aids Can Help Improve Language Development<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Research has shown that early intervention with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entofathens.com\/hearing-balance\/hearing-aids\/hearing-aids-overview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hearing aids<\/a> can be crucial for helping children with hearing loss meet their developmental milestones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One study from 2016 looked at a group of young children who had severe sensorineural hearing loss. Children were fitted with hearing aids and split into two groups between those who had received hearing aids:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Between 3-6 months of age<\/li><li>Between 12-15 months of age<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Researchers found the earlier intervention before six months had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4735612\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">significant positive effect on a child\u2019s language development skills.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An additional study examined the language outcomes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4704115\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">preschool children with mild to severe hearing loss<\/a>. The study found that children fit earlier with hearing aids had better early language achievement than children fit later.
